Tour cancellation and interruption insurance

We at European Discovery know that sometimes the best laid plans can have unforeseen circumstances so we provide a trip cancellation/interruption coverage as a courtesy to you. This coverage does not in any way a substitute for comprehensive travel and health insurance and we recommend that you investigate purchasing this coverage separately to insure yourself in all situations.  We offer this coverage to you and your traveling companion(s). For this insurance, we consider your traveling companion to be someone who shares the same accommodations with you. A family member is either your spouse, a step-child, or your blood relative in the first degree.

If you cancel your trip for a qualifying reason outlined below you will receive a 100% refund less any deposit. If you must leave/cancel after the trip has already begun, you will receive a reduced refund as outlined below.  The maximum refund amount is listed below. Again, for this reason, we highly suggest tour members consider the purchase of comprehensive travel and health insurance.

If European Discovery cancels your tour for unforeseen reasons such as illness or accident we will refund 100% of the cost of your tour.  We will not, however, refund any other expenses that you have incurred such as airline travel.  Again, for this reason, we recommend independent travel insurance.

Maximum possible refund if you cancel your reservation before the first day of the tour for a qualifying reason:

Discover London and Paris in 8-days - $1,590

Discover England and Scotland in 14-days - $2,695

Discover the Secrets of the Da Vinci Code 10-days - $1,895

On the day the tour begins if you cancel for any qualifying reason the refund will be $90/day that is remaining of the tour.  If you leave the tour for a non-qualified reason then there will be no refund.

Qualified reasons for canceling or leaving a tour:

  • You, your travel companion or a family member dies
  • You, your travel companion or a family member suffers an unforeseeable injury or illness with documentation from a physician stating that you should not travel.  An unforeseen illness or injury is one that first occurs less than 45 days prior to departure or on the tour.
  • You, your travel companion or a family member is involved in a serious injury-causing accident on-route to tour
  • You, your travel companion or a family member suffer a personal disaster such as a victim of a serious crime or your home is seriously damaged by fire or flood which makes is necessary to change your travel plans - documentation such as police reports or fire reports will be required.

You will not receive any refund if you leave or cancel your tour for the following reasons:

  • Personal problems that are not medically debilitating
  • Any airline related delays or problems
  • Business problems or emergencies
  • Self inflicted injury
  • Travel documentation problems such as passport or visa
  • Mental health problems
  • Accidents caused by high-risk personal activities such as skydiving, racing, etc.

Though travel to Europe is normally very safe with no problems, one can not predict when things such as accidents or illness could occur.  We provide this refund policy to you in those circumstances but we also highly recommend that you have additional comprehensive travel and health insurance to cover costs outside of this tour.  Please see the Terms and Conditions agreement for details regarding the terms of the tour.
