What's included with the European Highlights Discovery Tour for $3,395

To kick off this section, perhaps it is easier to say what is NOT included in this package so you you can accurately estimate your costs and compare to other tours. Airfare is the biggest non-included cost but we can help you find the best airfare if you want our help. For the most part, everything you need after arrival except for 7 lunches and 7 dinners is included. There are no hidden "optional" things you need to really experience these selected cities and countryside of Great Britain. Even the van taking you anywhere you want on your free day is no extra charge. This and the small group size is what makes our tours such a great value.

O.K.. so here is exactly what is included.....

All Guides Services - This includes the European Discovery Guide that will be with you throughout the entire trip to make sure all goes smoothly and the local experts who know the art, history, and culture of their city inside and out. Whether it is the Edinburgh tour or the London guided tour, you will always have an escort to help you with anything you need and a local guide who grew up locally and is a historic expert. Tips are already included.

Expert Services for your Discovery Days - Whether it is research before you leave that is required, or help with phone calls, maps, arrangements, directions, or just a ride on the mini-bus to somewhere special, it is all included for your Discovery Days. This is the specialty of European Discovery and whatever help you need, it is included.

Tours and admissions - On the Highlights Tour all guided tours and admissions are included for the days when the group is together. On this tour, it is a LOT! In Paris this includes the guided walking tours of the Marais District and the full day Paris Historic Highlights Tour - Notre Dame, historic Ile de la Cite, Ste Chapelle, the Louvre museum. A 2-day Paris Museum pass is included which covers all of these admissions plus most others in Paris, including Versailles, so you can use it on your Discovery Day. In Switzerland no tours are included as it is a free day for you to choose. In Germany entrance and tours of the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are included. In Venice, it is the 1 1/2 hour guided cruise down the Grand Canal in a private water taxi and a morning historical highlights tour with admission to Doges Palace and St. Marks Basilica. In Tuscany it includes a city highlights tour in Florence with entrances to the Accademia, the Duomo and tower and the Uffizi museum and Tuscan village tour with entrances to San Gimignano duomo and winery tour and tasting. In Rome it includes a city highlights tour with entrances to the Roman Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill, and Capitoline museum and a Vatican museum tour with museum entrance including Sistine Chapel.

Accommodations - You will have Deluxe accommodations for thirteen nights at centrally-located, quiet, small hotels or B&B's. Special care has been taken to find the best value in a friendly, charming and elegant hotel with local flavor that will be warm and welcoming as your home base in the city and the village.

Transportation - All local transportation is included. This includes a carnet of Metro Tickets for Paris, fast train from Paris to Interlaken, minibus from Interlaken to Germany to Venice, water taxi in Venice, train from Venice to Siena, bus from Siena/Florence, train from Siena to Rome and 2-day roman metro pass. As this tour is a land-only package, transportation cost to and from the airport is not included but our tour escort will meet you at the airport upon arrival make sure you get to the hotel easily.

Meals - All breakfasts are included and half of your dinners and lunches (see detailed itinerary for specifics). Drinks are not included with lunches and dinners. All restaurants have been chosen for their exceptional quality of food, charm and often local history and atmosphere. Wonderful food is an important part of a great trip and we have found some great restaurants, and pubs. Discovery Day wine and cheese is included.

"The Best" Maps - Included are wonderful, easy to read and compact maps of all of our destinations. After years of experience and looking at many maps, these are the perfect blend between size and content to make sure your Discovery Days and time on your own are spent navigating like a pro. For this tour they will include detailed ones of Paris, Venice and Rome and included maps in the handbook for Interlaken and Siena.

Phone card - Included will be use of a $10 phone card that can be used anywhere in Europe to use as you please. - dinner reservations, calling for the theater or calling your European Discovery guide if for some reason you need help.

Tour Handbook - The tour handbook will include all of the things that you may want to refer to before, during and after the tour. This will include some tips for before you leave such as packing lists, getting there, logistics, money, etc. For while you are there, there will be details of all of the hotels that will be used, the itinerary plus more facts about the sites. Most importantly, there will be some suggestions and descriptions of things to do, places to see, and good restaurants for your Discovery Day. There will also be helpful references to books and websites that could help you before you go to plan your Discovery Day.
